The genealogies in Ser. B have been compiled by a wide range of individuals on various families. The files a liberally cross-referenced. A file for the Gray family, for instance, containing substantial information on the Ricker family, will be indexed under that family as well. Researchers must take care to cite the proper call number when requesting materials.

As a rule, the archives does not add to existing genealogical files in MG10, Ser. B. Each genealogical acquisition is handled on an individual basis. For example, the following items: MG10 Ser. B Goodwin Item #1, MG10 Ser. B Goodwin Item #2, and MG10 Ser. B Goodwin Item #3, represent three genealogies on the Goodwin family from three different sources. If a fourth Goodwin genealogy were to be received, it would be designated “Item #4″ rather than simply added to a pre-existing file.
