Scope and Content
This fonds consists of records created or received by the Municipality of Argyle while carrying out the activities of property assessment and tax collection. This fonds is divided into twelve series of records including tax assessment rolls; tax collector’s rate rolls; tax arrears and tax sales records; correspondence; taxes relieved records; assessment schedules, notices to ratepayers, and assessment field cards; tax petitions; tax collection reports; Yarmouth-Clare Regional Assessment Committee records; tax deeds; and instructions to tax assessors. The records are arranged essentially in chronological order within each series.

The majority of the records contained in this fonds are written in English, however some material is in French.
Credit must be given to the Argyle Township Court House & Archives when material from this fonds is used or reproduced.
