MG1 Ser. E Abbott, #1
True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Reuben Abbott & Catherine McLain of Argyle Head, Yar. Co., NS, who were married on 25 Jan. 1830. Bible published by Charles Gaylord, Boston, 1836.
Bible also contains records of the births of Benjamin Abbott, 1737-1831, first person of this surname to settle in Argyle Head, as well as the records of his wife & children. He was Reuben Abbott’s grandfather. Bible goes on to record the family of William Abbott & Martha Barrows, parents of Reuben. Also Joseph Abbott and Hannah Allen’s family. Reuben Abbott had no children – so the Bible was eventually handed on to and kept by other family members, namely, William Emery Abbott & Jane Harding and their family. The Bible eventually passed to their daughter, Ella Dora Abbott who married Oliver Pitman. It eventually became the property of their daughter, Hannah (Pitman) Burrill, who loaned it for copying to our archives in 1987. Shortly afterward the Bible was sent to her nephew, Frank Pitman, Beverly, Mass.
The Bible also includes early records of the Forbes family of Argyle Head, NS. The wife of Benjamin Abbott, 1737-1831, was first married to a Forbes, and had three children by that marriage. Her son, Josiah Forbes, became the progenitor of the Forbes family of Argyle Head. 8p. [5 copies]

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Robert Allen, 1847-1907 & Eunice Hamilton, 1848-1926 of Springhaven & Gavelton, NS. Bible was published by Bay State Co., Boston, 1890.
Bible was loaned to the archives for copying by J. Gordon Wood, Tusket, NS. He borrowed same from Mrs. Sadie Raynard of Raynardton, NS, who owned the original in 1992. The Bible had been given to her husband, Russell Raynard, by his maternal grandmother, Eunice (Hamilton) Allen, when he was a child. His grandmother lived in Tusket at that time, and he carried the Bible home to Tusket Falls on his way home from school. Russell Raynard was the son of Robert Raynard & Ida Allen. 7p.

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Joel Andrews & Mary Ann Morton of Tusket Lakes, Yar. Co., NS, who were married 15 January 1832.
Bible published by Case, Tiffany and Company, Hartford, 1857. Bible was found in the Roy Wyman house on the Killam Road, Yar.Co., NS, by his grandson, Arnold Wyman. Roy Wyman was married 2nd to Sarah May (Hayes) Andrews, who was the widow of Joel Andrews, a son of the original owners of this Bible. Arnold Wyman gave the Bible to Ellen (Andrews) Trask of Raynardton, Yar.Co., NS who loaned it to the archives for copying in 2006. 5 p.

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Harry Edgar Armstrong & Lottie Trefry of Dedham, Mass. who were married on 21 June 1920. Bible was published by Consolidated Book Publishers, Chicago, 1950.
Bible loaned to archives for copying by Bob Armstrong, 23 Mainfield Dr., Reading, PA 19607 USA. He owned the original in 1988. 11p.

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible Mrs. Ida (Donaldson) Atkinson, 1880- , of Lower Clark’s Harbour, Shelb. Co., NS. Bible published by British & Foreign Bible Society, London – no publication date given.
Original Bible was owned in 1990 by Basil Atkinson, Tinpot Rd., Yarmouth, NS, who had received it from his mother, Ida (Donaldson) Atkinson. Copy donated to archives by Stephen Donaldson of Central Argyle, NS. 4p.
