MG1 Ser. E Patten, #1

True certified copy of the family Bible of Nathaniel Patten, 1823-1899 & Phebe Roach, 1830-1922 of South Ohio, Yarmouth Co., NS who were married 19 Sep 1852. It was published in New York by Robert Sears, 1857.

It was later owned by Sarah W. Patten, their daughter, who married Harris Wood of Raynardton, Yar. Co., NS. It then passed to their son, Edgar and is presently owned by his daughter, Jessie (Wood) Cann of South Ohio, Yar.Co., NS, who loaned it to J. Gordon Wood of Tusket, Yar.Co., NS for copying.

Included with these records are two loose doublesided pages on modern looseleaf. The title page at the front of the Bible is missing. The title page which appears before the New Testament was copied. 10 p. [Access #M2007:19]

MG1 Ser. E Peters, #1

Original family Bible of Ernest Julius Peters and Sarah S. Cossaboom of Westport, Digby Co., NS who were married on 2 Dec. 1891 at Tiverton, NS. No title page. Note written on inside of front cover stating Bible was published in 1861. Includes a note from Kenneth Peters, identifying the different handwriting in the Bible.

Donated to the archives by Kenneth H. Peters, Pubnico, NS in 1993. This was a family Bible that had been handed down to him.

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Thomas & Sarah Lovitt (Walker) Phillips of Brenton, Yar.Co., NS who were married 20 Dec 1858.  Also given are the marriages of their children & some grandchildren.  Births of their children are recorded and most death dates.  Births of some great grandchildren are also recorded.  This record has 2 pages attached of explanatory genealogy.No title page.

Loaned to the archives for copying by Kenneth Winter of Brenton, Yar.Co., NS.  This Bible has been in the home of Edward & Jessie (Phillips) Winter for many years. 4 p.  [also 2 p. of genealogy]     [Access #M2006:994]

Original family Bible of Charles Pinkney & Elizabeth Cook of Yar. Co., NS who were married on 26 Aug. 1852. Bible published by the Bible Assoc. of Friends in America, Philadelphia, 1854.

Bible was purchased from Susan Young, Proprietor of the Hanging Oak Antique Shop, Tusket, NS who purchased same at an auction in Yarmouth, NS in 1992.

Includes records on the Winchester family of Digby Co., NS plus one obituary clipping found in the Bible. Archives also has a true certified copy of the record from the Bible. 7p.

MG1 Ser. E Pinkney, #2

This is a handwritten copy of the Family Bible of Charles & Esther Pinkney of Digby County, NS. Includes records on the Adams family of Digby Co., NS.  Publication date of this Bible is 1835.

“This book is for Hilda Fraser from Loran E. Adams her father Deep Brook Oct 16 1958″ is inscribed in the Bible.

This copy was donated to the archives by Virginia Proulx of Clementsvale, Digby Co., NS who borrowed it from her father, Frank Ellison Adams of Smith’s Cove, Digby Co., NS. 4p. [Access.# M2001:68]

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of George Porter & Lydia Churchill of Cedar Lake, Yar. Co., NS who were married 31 Dec. 1869. Bible published by A.J. Holman & Co., Philadelphia, 1883.

Record includes photocopies of photographs found in the album pages of the Bible, obituary clippings found in the Bible & wedding invitations.

Loaned for copying by George & Ann Sorensen, R.R.#1 South Ohio, Yar. Co., NS. They borrowed the Bible from Mrs. George [Mildred] Carleton, Hebron, NS who owned the original in 1990. Her husband was a grandson of George Bell Porter. 11p.

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Jeremiah Porter of Yar. Co., NS who married 1st 1863 Bethia Vickery and married 2nd 1868 Elizabeth Crosby. Published by the National Publishing Co.,; Ziegler & McCurdy, Jones Brothers & Co., M.A. Parker & Co., 1870.

Loaned for copying by Mrs. Ann Sorensen, R.R.#1 South Ohio, NS who borrowed same from Mrs. Earl Frederick Porter, Hebron, NS who owned the original in 1990. Her husband’s father was Frederick Ernest Porter, a son of Jeremiah Porter. 6p.

MG1 Ser. E Pottier, #1

True certified copy of a handwritten family record of the families of Leon Pottier & Rosalie Thibedeau and of Louis Bourque & Sophique Pottier of Belleville, Yar. Co., NS The record of Leon Pottier’s family is quite old and the writer/compiler is not known.

The record of Louis Bourque’s family was probably written/compiled by his daughter, Emilie Bourque, 1884-1982.

Loaned to archives for copying by Mrs. Pauline (Bourque) Hubbard of Belleville, NS who owned the original in 1993. She cared for Emilie Bourque, when she was an elderly woman. 1L; 2p.
