MG1 Ser. E Marshall, #2
Records from the original family Bible of John W. Marshall & Bethiah M. Prosser who were married in 1878. They lived in Arcadia and Port Maitland, Yar. Co., NS. Published in London by Collins Clear Type Press in 1902.
There was probably an earlier family Bible kept by John W. & Bethiah Marshall, but this one does have John W. Marshall’s name written on the flyleaf. The majority of the records in the Bible were kept by their daughter, Rena Estelle (Marshall) Churchill. Bible was owned in 1994 by her daughter, Harriett (Churchill) Boudreau and was brought to the archives for copying by Patricia Moore of Moods Mill Rd., Pleasant Lake, Yar. Co., NS 8pp. + 7pp. of clippings, memorial cards, etc.
MG1 Ser. E McGray, #1
It is not known at this time, who brought this family Bible record to the archives. It was the family Bible of Capt. John McGray & his wife, Abigail Robbins of Yarmouth Co., NS, who were married in April 1803. The births of their children are recorded.
There is also a page of family deaths. No title page was copied. 2pp.
MG1 Ser. E Moor/Moore, #1
True certified copy of the records from a Moor/Moore family Bible that was owned in 1987 by Patricia Moore of Mood’s Mill Rd., Yar. Co., NS. No title page. A copyright date of 1872 is given on the bottom of the “Matrimonial Certificate Page.” Bible records birth of William Moore, 1813- and Mary Stevens, 1818- , of Long Island, Digby Co., NS who were married Sept. 1834 and the births of their children. After these entries the handwriting changes and follows the family of Willard P. Moore, a son of William & Mary.
It appears that the Bible was not used for many years and that much of the information recorded from Willard P. Moore to the present, has been added in recent years. Although this is a good record – the early entries have obviously been copied over, at an early date, from an older Bible. It seems uncertain as to whether Willard Moore actually recorded events in this particular Bible. He may have had another family Bible of his own. 5p.
MG1 Ser. E Murphy, #1
Records from the family Bible of John Murphy and Teresa Harris of Yarmouth, N.S. who were married 15 July 1865. He was born in Halifax, N.S., and she in Chester, N.S. All of their children were born in Yarmouth, N.S., where they settled.
This edition of the Bible was “Revised and Corrected Under the Superintendence of the very Rev. Frederick Canon Oakley, M.A.” and was published by John Card McClockey, Archbishop of New York. The title page for the New Testament indicates it was published by same and at New York by P.E. Collier, Publisher. No publication date given anywhere in this Bible. In the editorial notes one essay is dated 1875, suggesting that this edition of the Bible was probably published slightly after that date. 6 p. [Access.#M1999:122]
