MG1 Ser. E Raynard, #1

True certified copy of the records of the family Bible of Job Raynard & Phoebe VanNorden Hatfield who were married 27 July 1825. Bible was published in London by George Eyre and Andrew Strahan, 1804.

Bible was owned in 1993 by Ernest & Willetta Raynard, Glenwood, NS, and was loaned to our archives for copying. Include some clippings found in the Bible as well. 9 p.

MG1 Ser. E Raynard, #2

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Benjamin Raynard & Lucy Hurlburt of Tusket Falls, N.S. who were married 12 March 1865. Benjamin Raynard was married previous to this, but neither that marriage nor his children by his first wife are listed in this Bible.

The Bible contains birth dates for Benjamin & Lucy (Hurlburt) Raynard and their children as well as one or two other family members; also death dates for Benjamin and Lucy. The Bible record does not appear to be a particularly old one – although it was definitely recorded before the time of Mrs. Frances Nickerson, the current owner, and a granddaughter of Benjamin Raynard.

This is the “Devotional Family Bible Containing the Old and New Testaments with the Marginal Readings, and a Full and Original Selection of References to Parallel and Illustrative Passages” – although there is a title page, there is no publication information.

The copy was obtained from Carol Jacquard, Tusket Falls, N.S. She borrowed the Bible from her mother, Frances (Raynard) Nickerson, also of Tusket Falls, who was the owner in 1998. As far as Frances Nickerson knows this Bible belonged originally to her paternal grandparents Benjamin & Lucy (Hurlburt) Raynard of Tusket Falls, N.S. before it was passed down to her. 5p. True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Stayley B. & Alice M. (Ring) Raynard of Kemptville, Yar. Co. NS., who were married 24 April 1883.  No publication information is found in this Bible.

This copy was donated to the Archives by their great grandson, Donald Messier of Freeport, ME who was the owner of the original Bible in 2000. 2 p. [Access #M2001:69]

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Frederick C. & Lena M. (Jeffery) Raynard.  There is no publication information in this Bible.

This copy was donated to the Archives by their grandson, Donald Messier of Freeport, ME who was the owner of the original Bible in 2000. 5 p. [Access #M2001:70]

MG1 Ser. E Reeves #1

True certified copy of the family Bible records of Edward S. Reeves of North Kemptville, Yar.Co., NS.  These records show both of his marriages and birth dates of his children from both marriages, as well as several family death dates. Bible published in 1846 in Concord, N.H., by Luther Roby.

Loaned to the archives for copying by Alton Crowell, South Ohio, Yar.Co., NS.  [Access# M2003:5]

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Robert Ryer Reynolds & Sarah A. Banks of Port LaTour, Shelb.Co., NS who were married 16 March 1857. Bible published by Bradley & Co., Philadelphia, 1869.

Bible was owned by in 1990 by Helen Pauline (Reynolds) Bower of Reynoldscroft, Shelb.Co., NS – a daughter of Levi & Eliza Reynolds. Bible was borrowed by Stephen Donaldson, Central Argyle, NS and loaned to our archives for copying. 9p.

MG1 Ser. E Richardson, #1

True certified copy of the records from the family of James H. Richardson & Ellen Hamilton of Carleton, Yarmouth Co., NS who were married 9 June 1873. The Bible was later owned by their son David Henry Richardson who married Verna Isabelle Rogers in 1927.

In the back of the Bible the record of the family of Daniel Hamilton & Ann Kavanagh of Forest Glen, Yar. Co., NS is also recorded. There are also some Rogers family records found in the Bible. Also the marriage certificate of David Henry Richardson & Verna Isabelle Rogers, 1927. 16pp.

MG1 Ser. E Ricker, #1

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Sylvanus Ricker and Sarah Frost of Glenwood, Yar.Co.,NS, who were married 14 March 1855.   Bible was published by Henry S. Goodspeed, New York, 1873.

Record includes births, marriages, deaths, etc. of their children.  The Bible was subsequently owned & used by their son, Forrester Ricker, who married Mary A. Crosby in 1908.  It was found in the contents of the home of Amelia Ricker, their daughter, at Glenwood, NS.  Donated to the archives in 2003 by Judy Atkinson of Glenwood, NS.

MG1 Ser. E Roberts, #1

True certified copy of a handwritten record of the births and deaths of the family of Joseph Roberts & Mercy Chandler of Roberts Island, Yar. Co., NS who were married 21 Dec. 1818. This is a very old handwritten record which is on a loose piece of paper. If it was copied from yet an older family Bible, the location of the older Bible is not known.

Loaned to the archives for copying by Carole Roberts Murphy, Pubnico, NS who borrowed same from her father, Burton Roberts, Roberts Island, NS who owned the original in 1990.

This document is one amongst a collection of very old family documents owned by Burton Roberts. He lives in the old Joseph & Mercy Roberts family home. The record includes death dates for Joseph Roberts’ father and mother as well. 2 L, 1p.

MG1 Ser. E Roberts, #2

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Nathaniel Roberts & Mercy Whitehouse of North Kemptville, Yar. Co., NS and Washburn, Maine who were married 5 July 1858. No title page with certified copy.

Eric Whitehouse, South Ohio, Yar. Co., NS visited Maine in 1990 and obtained photocopies of this Bible record. He also took photographic copies of the Bible record, and did photograph the title page or publication information which is as follows:- Published by William Flint, Pennsylvania, 1869. For photographic copies of this same record see archives photograph collection P1990:415-421.

In 1990 the original family Bible was owned by Lillian Haines, Washburn, Maine, a granddaughter of Nathaniel Roberts. 7p.

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Victor W. Roberts & Iola G. Gray of Roberts Island, Yar. Co., NS who were married 19 Nov.1918. Bible published at the University Press for the British and Foreign Bible Society at Oxford. No publication date given.

Loaned to archives for copying by Carole Roberts Murphy, Pubnico, NS who obtained same from her aunt, Elsie L. (Roberts) Crowell, Central Argyle, NS who owned the original in 1990. 2p.

MG1 Ser. E Roberts, #4

Records from the family Bible of Oscar Roberts of Roberts Island, Yar. Co., N.S.who married Almina Ellen Crowell 1860′s.  This Bible was published in 1856 at Hartford, CT, by Case, Tiffany & Company.

The records in the Bible pertain mainly to the family of Weymouth Roberts and Joanna Randall of Roberts Island, Oscar Roberts’ grandparents and adoptive parents. It does however seem likely that the record was copied over from an even older Bible. Bible passed from Oscar and Almina Roberts to their daughter Wilma (Roberts) Frost, wife of Frank Frost, of Roberts Island, and from her to her daughter, Edith (Frost) Davis of Yarmouth, N.S., who owned the Bible in 1999. 6p. True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Levi Rogers and Ruth Mood who were married 8 Jan. 1835. Bible published by Edmund Cushing, Lunenburg, Mass., 1830.

Copied from the original at the Yar. Co. Museum, 22 Collins St., Yarmouth, NS which had been temporarily loaned to the museum. Original Bible is owned by Michael Murray of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. 3p.
